1997 Other Nissan Models Nissan Avenir 1997 wagon 1.8l

Hi, My Nissan Avenir make a terrible crunching sound when turning hard to the left(forward and reverse)especially when you brake. Could this be a suspension issue? It seems to come from the left front of the car. Also happens when reversing and turning wheel hard left down a driveway.
