2004 Nissan Maxima Car is cutting out

My car cut out on me yesterday and then it would only stay in 5th gear.

When I got home I unplugged the battery cable and that seemed to rester the computer and the car ran good afterward.

Today while I was driving, the car cut out on me agiain and I repeated the process and agin the car ran fine.

When your car cut off, the check engine light should've began flashing. Also, there should be a code set in your computer.

The first thing to do is have your computer scanned. If there's no codes set at the time, have a drive test performed and try to duplicate the problem. A good mechanic will be able to diagnose your issue with no problem.

Also, in order for me to help you, I'll need a lot more information, such as engine type, how long you were driving before your problems began, how long you let the car sit before the restart, and any other information you can provide.
