How to check a camshaft position sensor?

The car died and won't start. It doesn't seem to be getting any fire. I removed the cam position sensor and it checks shorted or zero ohms. Is that normal.

Hello,

Depending on the brand of the sensor that is installed on your Maxima, the camshaft position sensor should have 1400-2000 ohm resistance.

Keep in mind that typically on a no start situation it is more likely that the crank position sensor is the culprit.
