I stopped at Friendly's today @ 5:45 on my way back from the gym. My car would not start when I tried to starte. I had to be towed. 3 guys were helping me. They said it cannot be the battery, it is probably the fuel pump. Someone said you should never fill it all the way up. Now , keep in mind I have approximately 122, 000 miles. It has never been replaced. But, earlier in the morning I was shopping around for gas. Now, out in Wash Township it is usually cheaper there than in Gloucester Township. Don't know why, but today it really did not make a difference. It was on Empty so I got it @ Riggins for $50 and it was full. I remembered today outside my house I thought it would not start for a minute but then it did.
Could some gas stateions be watering down the gas? I remember along time some girl asked me about her husband's car and he filled his tank that day and after that it would not start. It may have been going on the time about gas prices.
Could it be the gas or at those amount of miles, can it be time for a new fuel pump. My wife picked me up at the Pep Boys to where it was towed. Went to get my Wawa Coffee for tomorrow morning. I saw some guy who know about mechanics, he told me to have them check the Fuel Pump Fuse before they make a determination if it was the Fuel Pump. I am estimating about $500-$600.
What is your opinion? Could it be a new fuel pump, a fuel pump injector, or could it possibly be a fuse that went bad and I got bad gas to cause this problem.
What is your expert opinion if that is the case?
