1998 Nissan Maxima While I am driving I hear a groaning noi

While I am driving I hear a groan/moaning sound from the rear of my vehicle. I checked under the car at the rear and noticed that my right shock is leaking fluid. I hear the noise as soon as i sit in the car. Also while I did a bounce test at the rear of my car. The sound increases while i am using my brakes. I wanted to know if the leaking shock could cause this sound.
