1998 Nissan Maxima 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 69.000 miles

Whenever I try to set the cruising speed the green light flashes and it won't engage. What could be wrong?

unfortunately there are many switches that can fail and cause the CC to fail. the first place to start diagnostics is checking the brake light switch. this is a simple check, just have a helper look and see if your brake lights are working properly. if this is OK, check the steering switch. again this is easy also, just attemp to sound the horn, if it works then the switch is most likely good. does the transmission shift OK and is the speedometer working properly?
