whats wrong when it runs hot and after a while cuts off

Hi there,
You will have to identify any cooling system problems, such as coolant leaks, faulty thermostat, thermo fans not activating faulty water pump, if the engine continues to over heat serious damage can result, if in doubt get your mechanic to inspect and report findings.
