On my way home today both my brake and battery light came on. My friend said that could be an alternator problem, but i just had that replaced less than 2 weeks ago. Do you have any ideas on what the problem could be??

Thank you,
Adam

Read the battery open voltage-put voltmeter on battery follow polarity-record the voltage. Now start the car-put headlights and heater On-record readings-

Open voltage should 12.4volts or better

While running with lights/heater should read 13.2-15.5 volts if not the alternator is not putting out or the battery is not taking the charge

Double check battery and alternator connections
