The fuel pump relay should be located in the IPDM power distribution box in the engine compartment. If you cant find it is because the fuel pump relay is built into the IPDM.

Check out the diagrams (Below). Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem.

Electrical problem
2002 Nissan Frontier V6 Two Wheel Drive Manual 60000 miles
----------------------------------------------------------------
I am having issues with my fuel pump on my 2002 nissan frontier. I am trying to toubleshoot it but I am not sure what relays are in the system that control the pump or what specs the pump should read when I check it with a multi meter. A wiring diagram would be great but I am having problems locating one. Can someone help?

Here's how the fuel system is wired. Inspect and test fuel pump relay at center of dash, also the No.1 fuse 15amp at fuse block at left side of dash behind the cover.

test all fuses with a test light to verify power.

od for no spark and fuel pump. could be a fusible link fried from too much draw on the pump.

use a pressure tester to confirm fuel pressure

Hi ricky41,

Thank you for the donation.

The fuel pump relay is located behind the instrument panel ( underdash) above the parking brake lever.

Sorry I do not have any diagrams to show you the exact location.

I have a 2000 Nissan Frontier 2.4 L, 2WD, with 216,000 miles. I just replaced the waterpump, drove about 500 miles, engine died, rpm's went crazy. I pulled over it would still turn over, so I thought I may have no compression, my timing chain went out, or I cracked a block. Took it had the engine rebuilt (wow!) when they went to start it, it was not getting fuel. I am thinking that may have been the original problem. Is there a relay switch, how do you know if the relay switch is bad, or the fuel pump is bad. It already cost $5k for the rebuild, due to having the heater core, motor and transmission mounts, changed. I am wondering the average cost if it is determined to be the fuel pump, versus the relay. Thanks, for any help...61 year old grandma that works on the cars!!!

Why wasn't any diagnostics performed before the engine was rebuilt?

Fuel pump is powered by relay behind left side of dash.

You can test the fuel pump by appplying direct battery voltage to the positive terminal of the fuel pump and grounding the negative. If fuel pump works it is ok.

Test the fuel pump relay for battery voltage at the White/Blue wire when ignition is turned on ( 2 secnds ) or while cranking the engine.
If voltage is available, the relay is good.

Hi,

You listed this as a 1.4L. I only show a 2.4L as an option. I am not sure it matters with this relay because I suspect it is in the same place for all configurations.

Let me know if you need more info. Thanks
