Engine Mechanical problem
2000 Nissan Frontier 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

I have replaced the distributor 3 times now and it overheats and stops getting spark, ultimately shutting down. It gets so hot you cannot touch it, for that matter the whole engine seems to run hot however the temp gauge never shows hot.

i would lean toward incorrect timing over a wiring issue here.. shorted wiring to ignition coil would not explain engine overheating, incorrect timing can cause engine overheating as well as dist. overheating
