My 2005 Nissan Altima (purchased in May 2004, so a little over 4 years old) is in the shop for its 60,000 service, and they want to replace all the brake pads and grind (?) the rotors, for about $500. I have not noticed any squealing from the brakes, but I've also never had anything repaired/replaced (except oil) on this car, and I skipped the 30,000 service.

Does it sound reasonable that the brake pads need replacing, and is $500 ridiculous?

Hi Acerria,

Brake pads wear are dependent on the usage so no recommended mileage is applicable.

As to the refacing of the rotors, I would get a second opinion.
