Hi there,

Is this using a synthetic oil? you do see this in all makes and models, some use oil and others do not, i do see newer cars have oil consumption problem, why this is is usually an oil control ring problem, which can often be an assembly problem in the first place.

No not using a synthetic oil bc i know the engine will use that quicker than normal oil!! A nissan master tech told me to try castrol 10w40 and its a little better just hope it does not cause premature engine failure since the engine recommends 5W30!!!

That oil will be fine, you will not do any damage what so ever, try it and see how you get on.

OK thank you so much for your help!!! Also have another question to see what you think? I have had a random misfire for about close 3yrs1/2!! Nissan has changed mass air flow, crank sensor, cam sensor, plugs, coils, intake gasket, ECM, all 4 O2's,both precats, head job new valves and seals!!!! So far engine light has been off for over a yr now but it still random misfires sometimes but not enough to set a code!! They end up saying that a vaccum line was crossed from the factory!! I think im having injector problems but they didnt wont to listen to me!! What do you think? The car is off warranty now so i would do all the work myself if anything happens!! I also work parttime at a auto shop but its always good to ask and learn from a master tech or other techs good way to learn new things!!! Just let me know what you think when you get a chance thank you!!!

Hi there,

This may be a fuel fault, but as it is a random miss fire there is no pattern to which cylinder is at fault, with what you have done i may be the EGR valve as there is nothing else apart from a vacuum problem that may be causing this problem.
