2006 Nissan Altima 6 cyl Automatic

i attempted to jump start my car with a brand new battery (new battery was not connected to or installed in another vehicle) and the jumper cables were hooked up backwards on the new battery. The cables were also hooked up to the dead battery that was installed in the nissan for maybe 3 sec. tops. There was a slight spark but no smoke or fire from the battery wires or cables. Now the car won't start/turn over. Tried replacing dead battery with the new battery, an still nothing. I took new battery to a parts store and had it tested just to b sure- and couldn't find anything wrong with it. What damage(s) do u think i caused, what course would i need go about diagnosing or trigger pointing problem? Is it an electrical, alternator or computer issues?
I had a similar situation happen with my 1989 Saab but i just replaced the dead battery and the problem was fixed. This time i fear i may not be so lucky to have sich an easy fix.

HI there,

You will need to check all fuses & fusible links, the main concern is a voltage spike that can damage the ECU, hopefully a fuse has popped and saved the system from more serious damage.
