1995 Nissan Altima replacement axle assembly

I took my car to a repair shop which I won't name. I knew both of my front CV boots were torn and needed to be replaced. They told me since they are taking the whole thing apart I should just replace the whole assembly even though the axles themselves are not damaged. The total price was $570.00 installed. Their labor rate is $89.00 per hour. Does this seem like an average cost? I don't want to be ripped off. The place I took the car to is a well known repair chain. I hope I didn't pay too much!

What were the prices of the axles? Typically a reman axle in my are runs about $110-125. Also in my area shop rates are around $55-$85/hour.

You had the job done the right way, and I would have done the same in my opinion.

I am not a fan of chain repair shops.

Each Axle Assembly was $140.00. I was charged $267.00 for labor (3 hours @ 89.00). I saw on line I could purchase an Axle Assembly for 60.00 but I'm not sure if it included everything I needed. I guess I paid average. At least the car is fixed and I don't have to worry about my axle breaking during driving, especially on the highway. Thanks for your info.

You can always buy the part cheaper yourself. Auto repair shops have a high mark up to stay in business.

That price you paid was about the going rate.
