1993 Nissan Altima windshield troubleshooting

I had this car for 2 months (love it) The windshield on the outside portion has streaking when wet. When wiping the glass, you can see steaking appear but disappears when dry. When it is raining and dark, the streaks make it very difficult to see esp when another vehicle is coming towards me with headlights on. I have tried regualr cleaners, vinager, and amonia. The sreaks remain. I had one person suggest "coke" (soda) i have not tried that. I know the car sat for a while and i am not sure of the environment it was in. Other people tell me they have some of that also but not all over the windshield. Can u please council me on what to use on the windshield to take the streaking away. I also have diff in direct sun, early in the am. It seems this is when there is more moisture, and noisture is what brings out the streaks.
