I had the clutch smell real bad?

I have a 05 Nissan 350Z 6 speed, and when i was driving i noticed my RPM was going up real fast, but the car wasnt picking up speed, then when i was at a stop i put it into gear and it didnt move at all, and i had the clutch smell real bad, and i left the car in 1st gear and let off the clutch and the engine didnt die, it kept running. What does it sound like? i want to be sure before i buy the needed parts. thanks

Hello,

It sounds like you have a clutch that is not engaging, possibly for being burnt. It could be due to the clutch just being worn out. It can also happen if the clutch for is stuck in the release position and not allowing the clutch to engage.
