I want to share something about 1995-98 (mine is a 95) Nissan 240sx. some people have reported overheating. this is an issue with this engine, there is a specific method to filling the antifreeze, by removing heater hose and a bolt on the block to let the air out as you fill it slowly. however what is undocumented is the fix I obtained on a newsgroup. slightly lifting the engine by jacking the front of the car slightly, then filling the antifreeze (fresh antifreeze after a drain or flush) finally corrected the intermittent overheat problems. it is the only thing that worked! (waterpump was changed, multiple thermostats- Ive owned the car since new, 179,000 miles

check your engine coolant temperature sensor too. it could be gummed up giving the computer false readings
