1990 Nissan 240SX 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual

I have a top end tick and thought it might be a lifter or a valve lash but no valve lashing can be done. What else could this be?

Everynow and then my ka24e has a tick in the top end. I believe it to be a piece of dirt blocking the lifter from filling which then hits the rocker. I added about a 1/2 quart of Automatic Trans. Fluid and it took the tick away after drive for about 20 minutes. However the ATF burns off so you have to replace the fluid with oil then. Then about a month later the tick came back. So i started the car and just drove for about 15 minutes and it cleared up.
