New Oil Pressure Sensor Leaking

I just had my oil pressure sensor (switch/unit) replaced last month. It was reading "low oil pressure" randomly, and so we replaced it, and it fixed that issue completely.. i've never had the light come back on since. However, just today, not even a full month later, the new sensor is now leaking a tremendous amount of oil, only when the engine is running, obviously, and i'm wondering if there is something that could be causing that, or is it just a bad part?

Thanks for visiting 2carpros.com. The sensor can either leak due to a bad diaphragm or where it screws into the engine. It's fairly easy to check. if you unplug the connector and oil is inside then it has failed due to a blown diaphragm and must be replaced. if you see oil leaking from where it screws into the block it needs to be removed, checked for damaged threads and if they are ok reinstall with a thread sealant compound. like the one below

The sensor is located behind the alternator. i'll post a picture and replacement info below for you.

Removal
1. Turn the ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect the oil pressure sensor electrical connector.
3. Remove the oil pressure sensor (1).

Installation Procedure

1. Install the oil pressure sensor (1).

Tighten the oil pressure sensor to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

2. Connect the oil pressure sensor electrical connector.

You'll need a ratchet and sending unit socket like the one below
