I could use a detailed description or a diagram. The cable is in really bad shape and plan to replace it and the new cable is very long.

Where does the negative battery cable mount on the motor?

Hello,
The battery ground should have two spots, one near the battery and other lower left side of the engine.
Are you able to trace the existing ground wire? Or is it missing?
I have attached the wiring schematics below.
