Need help identifying a noise

Front passenger side makes a rubbing sound that you only hear when the vehicle is moving. gets louder as vehicle accelerates. I checked for anything rubbing and nothing. Not a stick caliper as I changed it. Possible wheel bearing?That same one was changed a year ago.It does need a putter tie rod end which I am changing this week. That would not cause that sound though would it? I jacked car up an shook tire an it only moved side to side as the tie rod is bad.Any suggestions would be appreciated.Thanks.

try driving in a left hand circle then a right if the noise increases more on left hand then it is the right wheel bearing kind of sounds like it.

Okay, I will have to check later.There is no clicking when turning but could that have anything to do with the CV?

clicking is usually a CV joint, but it could be a wheel bearing if bad enough.

I know clicking is CV. My question is does a CV always click when it is bad or could it make this rubbing /grinding type noise?

I have never heard one make a grinding noise, but If you see grease around one of the boots then it broke a boot and all lube is gone from joint so it may do that.

Well I changed the bearing that went good an now my damn issue is this outter tie rod will not free from the inner.I tried a bunch of penetrating oil an heat.Will not come loose.Looks like I will be replacing inner as well but need to get this outter off for now.Any suggestions will help.Thanks.

if it is the outer you ned to loosen the jam nut otherwise it will give you problems

try this, heat with a propanetorch then cool with penetrating oil and tap nut with a small hammer all around then repeat this 5 times and then see if nut will turn away from tie rod end.

I tried that a few times.Will not losen.I am going to change the inner one to.can I remove the inner tie rod while the outter one is still attached to it?Here are a couple pics of the nut I cannot losen.

have you tried what I suggested by heating then cooling with the penetrating oil an dtapping nut all around? that usually works you can pull the inner and outer with no problem other than the boot will have to be replaced on to new inner.

Yes I did tap it..Not sure what the deal is.The inner one is going bad anyway.Its not tight in the joint.Lits of play.I was going to replace that next pay day.But I'll just do it now..Thanks for the advice..This site helps allot

I tried the heat,cooling,an tapping one more time an it popped loose.It did not work the first few times I tried.Anyway,rented the tie rod adapters an the inner came out easy.Put all the new parts on an just got a wheel alignment.Good to go.Appreciate the help you guys give.It helps allot.Especially for someone like me who likes doing my own work.
