Navigational/stereo central display screen not working

When I turn the vehicle on, the Nav system, etc., doesn’t boot up. The screen just stays black. It did this once before a while back. Ironically, I removed the Map SD card and plugged it back in and it came on. This time that didn’t work. I don’t see any of the fuses labeled for the display. Also, it stopped working right after I got done programming a new keyless entry remote today. Everything else, the A/C, etc., is working fine.

Is this just the display that is not working or does all the radio function not work as well?

There are two fuses that feed the AV control unit which is what controls the display so we should check them just to be sure.

These are fuse 4 and 12 in the junction box on the right side of the dash.

If these check out ok then we can try a battery disconnect for 10 minutes to see if it will force a reboot to get the screen to come back on.

If it does not then we may have a screen failure. I highly doubt it is related to programming the remote as that has nothing to do with the radio or screen. I suspect that is just a coincidence.

It was the display and the entire radio function, nav/map, etc. Oddly, it came back on while I was driving yesterday and had been working since. Thank you very much for this information. I’m hoping I don’t have a wiring issue.

Okay. That again points to a radio issue. These are not uncommon on these types of radios. Basically they will shut off or reboot and that normally points to a circuit board issue.

Unfortunately I expect it will happen again. What I would do is call a dealer and tell them this is what it is doing and ask if there are any software updates that could correct it. A lot of times if the circuit board is not damaged then the OEM will release software to fix it.

Think of it like an update for your cell phone that they call bug fixes. Same thing.
