Check your fuses. I am including some pictures. The first shows the location of the fuse box. The second is a legend, telling you which fuses power which systems. The third shows a layout of the box. The forth is a comparison of a good fuse and a blown fuse. I would definitely check numbers 11, 15, and 33.

Just pull out the fuses and look at them. Replace any blown fuses. Let us know what you find.

Well it's possible that one is blown but looks ok. In that case you would either (1) just change them with new ones or (2) use a multimeter to check continuity from one terminal of the fuse to the other. Using the ohms function, if you get an infinite reading, then the fuse is blown. Only other possibility is a wiring issue of some sort. We'd have to do some serious digging to look into that. I'll do some more thinking while I work on other stuff and let you know what else I come up with

These trucks had a problem with the GEM module which is located in the dash and it sounds like your has gone out. Here is the location.

Check out the diagrams (Below)

Please let us know what happens.

Cheers, Ken

As Ken stated, check the GEM module. He has included the pertinent information in an earlier post. He's probably right.

It depends on the trim package here is a search i did which shows the different ones.

https://www.google.com/search?q=2000+ford+ranger+instrument+cluster&safe=active&rlz=1C1CHBF_enUS768US768&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwif2bnV0-DZAhVKyWMKHT1mAFUQ_AUICygC&biw=1920&bih=974

is that a yes or no on the GEM?

Are you 100% sure it's a 2000? Post the VIN here and we should be able to see exactly what it is and maybe if it's a 2000 instead of a 2000.5 (sometimes they release an updated model in the middle of the model year).

OK so it definitely is a 2000. I can't find any evidence of there being a 2000.5 Ranger, so the difference in gauge clusters is likely just from different trim levels. For example, the XLT with an automatic transmission has a different cluster than the base Ranger with a manual transmission. Basically, you're going to have a hard time just walking up to a Ranger and just pulling it and going. You might have better luck looking on ebay for a cluster and matching one up to yours.
