My car needs a boost to start

Every time i get ready to start my hybrid i need to charge up my battery. All the lights come on but the car won't start. As soon as the cables are connected it starts. This is a major issue because a battery is expensive. How can i find out if it is the battery?

Battery for starting the engine is not expensive as compared to the hybrid batteries and you can have it tested at most parts stores.
