Hard Starting

At first when i purchased it starting smoothly after long cranking, but after that it is not starting when hot and after that. it is weird now it is not at all starting with key i have to push start it.

When you push start it, does it start up fast or do you have to go a ways to get it to start? If you have to go a ways check the EVAP purge valve. They will stick open and create a vacuum leak that draws in a lot of fuel vapor and make it hard to start the car unless you crank the engine a lot.

Yes it start up very fastly just some momentum needed....and i had rebuild its half assy ..piston rings ,bearings,head gasket,...sooo any guess what could be the culprit and could it be the rail sensor?or bosch pump?

OK so it start up good if you push start it. That means that the issue isn't likely to be the pump or the engine controls. Those would effect it regardless of how you started it. It has to be something that is different only while cranking the engine with the starter motor.

When you turn the key what happens? Just cranks over but doesn't start? Doesn't crank at all?

Cranks and cranks the battery dies up but it will not start

When it is cranking and not starting does the ignition have spark?

This is the 3 cylinder common rail diesel, just realized it said 3 cylinders. That would be a D series Hyundai engine.
Have you had the injection system tested? It almost sounds like the system is bleeding down probably through a worn pump. I can't find a good diagram of the injection system to see if it uses a lift pump or not. The online content is generators and industrial applications. But I'll keep looking.

Yes 3 cylinders and i had gvn injectors for test they tested and said they have no problem...and can u please ans 1thing which troubling me rail sensor seems to be i think culprit how does that wrk i had removed that sensor and pushed it same thing it started... ?soo does that is normal ?how does that sensor work?

The rail sensor does 2 things, it tells the computer what pressure the fuel is at so it can regulate it and it tells the temperature of the fuel.
The thing is that you say it runs fine if you push start it. For that to happen it uses the same sensors and controls it would if you started it with the key.
I still haven't found anything that shows the wiring or control systems. Hyundai doesn't show models not sold in the US on their service website if you access it from the US. Perhaps you could try getting a service/workshop manual there and read through the fuel system controls, Usually they have a lot of theory of operation and tests that can be done based on symptoms.

Hmmm..i am from india and i thought this website will help me and yes it started with key when i adjusted the wiring of the rail pressure sensor after that same issue its not starting now 3 times it started when i adjusted the wiring of that

OK if it started after you moved the wiring, go over the wiring and check the connector itself, corrosion or a loose pin could be the issue. Wires can fail inside the insulation and appear to be fine when they are actually broken.

We get questions from around the world. The problem is that some of the auto makers restrict the data you can get to the cars that were sold in the country you are in at the time. Plus some vehicles were never sold outside of a particular country so they never translated the info. And there are some vehicles that don't even have any service info, those only go to the dealer/builder for repairs.

After a long long searching and met dozen machenics and no but found the problem but my gues was right it is the fuel regulator which was culprit i changed it and yippi started less than 4seconds thanks for ur rplies i really honoured with ur interact

I mean started withing 4seconds and is now problem free but if it was bad then y did my engine light was not blinking?

Great to hear you got it taken care of.

There are many parts that are monitored but some are "rare failure items" so they don't watch them. In this case the fuel pressure is normally monitored but being a diesel they may not as most common rail diesels use a very high pressure system and the pressure sensor to monitor it might add $1.00 to the build price, can't waste that money!

But it's probably spelled out that way in the factory manual IF you can ever find one.
I know Hyundai has factory service manuals online but they are sort of restricted. For instance in the US I can log in and see the vehicles sold in the US, but not ones sold only in Mexico or in your case India.
