My car is blowing cold air while I have the heat on

Did you replace the blend air door actuator? I'm attaching the directions. Let me know if this is what you did. Also, let me know if you have dual climate control.

BLEND DOOR ACTUATOR - REMOVAL
REMOVAL

WARNING:
Disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to take the proper precautions may result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.

NOTE:
The Dual Zone heating and A/C system has two blend door actuators, one for the driver side and one for the passenger side.

LEFT SIDE

1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.

2. Remove the steering column. See: Steering Column > Removal and Replacement > Steering Column - Removal.

3. Remove the two screws (4) that secure the blend door actuator (1) to the left side of the HVAC air distribution housing (3).

4. Remove the blend door actuator from the air distribution housing. Disconnect the HVAC wire harness connector (2) and remove the actuator from the vehicle.

RIGHT SIDE

1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.

2. Remove the push fasteners, disconnect the wire harness connector and remove the instrument panel closeout (3).

3. Remove the glove box and the glove box trim panel from the instrument panel. See: Glove Compartment > Removal and Replacement > Instrument Panel Glove Box - Removal.

4. Remove the two screws (1) that secure the blend door actuator (3) to the right side of the HVAC air distribution housing (4).

5. Remove the blend door actuator from the air distribution housing. Disconnect the HVAC wire harness connector (2) and remove the actuator from the vehicle.

It is dual climate control and I did everything you told me and cold air still comes out when I have the heater on.

There is only one heater core, so something is preventing the actuator from moving the air flow door. Can you hear or see the actuator moving? Have you checked for power to the actuator?

I recently changed the thermostat and flushed the system.. air conditioning works great but now I have no heat..

That can happen if the cooling system isn't either bled properly, it locks air in the cooling system and can cause low heat as well as overheating. The thermostat itself has a bleed hole that has to be installed with it pointing toward the hose outlet. Then you use the bleed fitting on the top of the thermostat housing. Attach a clear hose to the fitting and put the open end into a container, the hose just keeps the coolant from spraying all over but that get's messy. Next you block or clamp the overflow tube that comes out of the filler neck. Then open the bleeder valve, Fill the system with coolant until a steady stream comes out of the bleed hose. Once you see that stream stop filling and close the bleed valve. Now start the engine, turn the heat on full hot and run the engine at 1,500-2,000 rpm's until it comes up to temperature. Now shut it off and let it cool. Be sure the overflow has coolant in it. Then wait until it has cooled. Check the coolant level in the bottle and the overflow. Check the heat. I have had to do the bleed process a couple times on some vehicles to get all the air out. It's why I now use a vacu-fill tool. No bleeding needed and no air pockets.

Did you have heat prior to the thermostat and flush?

This could be a clogged heater core. I would remove the hoses to the heater core and run a garden hose through the core. Run it back and forth a few times until you get clear clean water.

NOTE: The single zone heater-A/C system is equipped with a single blend door actuator. The dual zone system has two blend door actuators, one for the driver side blend-air door and one for the passenger side blend-air door.

1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. See: Battery Cable > Service and Repair
2. If equipped, remove the instrument panel silencer from the driver side of the instrument panel See: Dashboard / Instrument Panel > Removal and Replacement > Silencer Panel - Removal.
3. Remove the two screws (4) that secure the blend door actuator (12) to the driver side of the HVAC air distribution housing (3).
4. Remove the blend door actuator from the air distribution housing and disconnect the HVAC wire harness connector (2) and remove the actuator from the vehicle.

DUAL ZONE PASSENGER SIDE

1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.

I replace my thermostat and the heater still doesn't work. What do I do now?

Had the same problem for the last three days same car 2007 charger replaced thermostat water pumped reversed flushed the heater core caught the old antifreeze in a clear pail found corrosion. Got heat after doing this!

I am a female and do not know about cars but since I looked at this post I was able to fix my car I love this site.

Heat will not work

Make sure the engine is running at a normal operating temp. Check thermostat, make sure coolant is full.

My car heater blows only cold air. What so i need to do ro be hot....is it the thermostat?...plz let me know what i need to check. Thanks

check coolant level first then after car is warmed up check both hoses to see if they are hot or about same temp. if they are it's an actuator in heater box that needs looked into.

I have had heat until this morning. The rear defrost works, but only cold air comes out. I made sure everything was on hot, then I put it on defrost, then I tried the vents.

Are you sure the coolant level isn't low? Does cold air come out the vents and the defroster? If so and the coolant is full, I need you to check something. Start the engine and let it warm up to normal operating temp. Turn the heater on hot / high. Feel both heater core hoses to see if they are hot. They should be. Let me know what you find.
