Squeeky noise coming from back wheel

I know this is more a general car question. But I thought I'd ask online before taking it to mechanic if it was something simple that I could fix. My back left wheel is squeeky (at least I'm pretty sure that is where it's coming from). It only happens at very low speeds, usually after sitting at the lights, or when rolling a bit. It disappears when I brake. It seems to squeek in time with the wheel rotating. Anything I can do to fix it?

Sounds like you are describing the wear sensor on the brake pad touching the rotor...check all your brakes.

How do I check my brakes? Sorry I have no idea about cars really. Only a minor knowledgebank. And if it was how you described, how can I fix it? Or is this all better off taking to a mechanic to deal with?
