My van has 130,000 miles on a 2.4 L fuel injected motor. It woul not start so I checked for spark at the spark plug and coil. Found none. ( I have to take the drivers side seat out and the floorboard out to get at the distributor and coil ) Readings from my cheap ohm meter on old the coil was not much different than the $75 new one I went out and bought. I got no resistance on the primary side of either one. Might need better meter to read 1.2 ohms? On the secondary side I got 9K ohms on the new one and got 8.5 Kohms on the old one. I did check for power to the coil and it was there. Should I look elsewhere for my problem. Since my original post, I went out and bought a digital volt meter. I was able to measure 1.2 ohms on the primary side of the coil and 1.5 ohms on primary side of the new coil. It's supose to be 1.2 ohms. On the secondaryside I got 12.31K ohms on the old coil and got 15.23K ohms on the new coil. My Hanes manuel says I should have 22.5K ohms. I have 12.25 volts at my battery and it measures 11.75 volts at the coil. I also discovered it drops to 10 volts when I crank the engine over. Help I need some spark. Thanks for any Help!
