Nice Pic  First check the coolant level if good and the thermostat is original, it is a reasonable possibility. Not a real expensive cost-$100? Takes a little less than an hour to do.

I have a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse. That happened to me and I checked the coolant fluid, filled it and the heat worked again.

I hear thats a common thing with Mitshibishi's.

Losing coolant is not normal to any car, it just doesn't diasappear for no reason. On yours, the cause isn't found....yet. The heater core is the first thing to lose coolant flow due to it's location, thus it's abilty to keep heat in the passenger compartment.

Might want to try parking your car an a clean spot, then when you leave back up and look for coolant on the ground. Might give you a place to start
