1995 Mitsubishi Diamante, 140,000 miles. While driving (with all doors fully closed and locked), the "Door Ajar" indicator lights up on the warning panel and a piercing, metallic whine is heard. This is most likely to occur when the brake pedal is depressed and/or when the gas pedal is not depressed. Tends to stop when pressure is applied to the gas pedal. This may be related to a wonky security alarm system (see Malfunctioning Security Alarm System post). Mechanics at Mitsubishi can't figure this one out.
