I have a 1997 eclipse gst...2.0.. 110,000 miles, and my check engine light was on so i took it and had them hook it up to see what it said, well i got this code PO505.. which is an idle control systlem malfunction. So i took my car and had the throttle body cleaned to see if it would solve the problem, well now when the car is sitting still it is automatically reving itself. I believe it is the idol control sensor, i am not sure the correct terminology.. Any information would be so helpful. Please get back to me with some information on this. and if you could let me know what that sensor is exactly called.. thanks :(

It sounds like you have a bad "idle air controller."

well someone told me to go back out and check it after it sat awhile, so I went back out checked it and it was no longer doing, but the check engine light was still on, they told me that sometimes the throttle body cleaner can do that to you car.

Throttle body cleaner disapates in about 10 minutes of driving. That isn't the problem. As I said it is probably the idle air controller.

You could try a salvage yard but it is a dealer only item.

It sounds more like your throttle positioning sensor is failling....your throttle body doesnt actually fail, unless it has dust or grease build up in the flaps....if you cleaned it, and it is still failling, then the sensor is failling,or you need to adjust the screw on the throttle body....but the throttle positioning sensor sounds more like your problem.
