Hood Release Hatch

Hood Release handle not engaging at all - therefore hood won't pop to allow opening. Two part question:

1. For repair, best to take to dealer (high labor costs though) or can local repair shop fix it?

2. Is there a way to manually release the hood until I get it fixed?

This is not addressed in the owners manual at all. Sure would appreciate your help on this.

sounds like the cable is binding or broken , yes a local shop can repair it ,
if you lay on your back and look above you infront of the radiator you should see the latch , if you can see it look for the cable and give it a yank if that doesnt work you may have to reach up and hit the latch to open
