i have a 2002 mitsubishi mirage with about 60k miles and an automatic transmission and i recently had my first problem.
this past thurdsay, when getting to about 20-30 mph it made this strange vibrating noise, however everything appeared to be shifting okay.
friday and saturday, it was fine.
sunday, it started having this like four second lag between second and third gear. you are in second gear, and the car knows that it's time to go to third bit it doesn't shift. it just sits there for a few seconds and as you are pushing on the gas no power is going into making the car pick up on third gear. then after about four seconds the car shifts into third and you are on your merry way. it also does something similar downshifting from third to second, however its more of a klunk type of drop off rather than a four second lag. it's almost like you are stuck between 2nd and 3rd gear for a few seconds in neutral. no matter how much you rev your engine in that four seconds, nothing happens. it also stalled at a stop sign in the rain while waiting to make a left hand turn, which is unusual because it's never stalled before.
I'm assuming the vibrating on thursday is related to this problem on sunday, as both are kind of around the same speed/rpm's. Not really sure about the stalling though.
Does anybody have any idea what this could be?
