Hi,

I have just got my timing belt and water pump changed. Before the change, the engine sounds perfect.

now the Enginee are very noisy when just starting up, or accelarating, but sounds good at idle. the mechnic changed the A/C-power steering belt for me. still the same.

What is the problem there

Thanks

Hi there,

If this problem only started after the timing belt was changed , i would be re checking the valve timing first.

Apprecaited

But what is the meaning of "Value timing". Does this mean the timing belt need to take off and re-installed.

Thanks for your time in advance.

Hi there,

The valve timing is what the timing belt controls, if the belt is loose the timing can "jump a tooth" and if so it will have to be reset, i need to know what engine is fitted so i can send the correct picture for you to check.

My Enginee is: 2.4L 4G64 I4.

By the way, I can easily open the upper cover of the timing belt and reach it. If it is too loosen, is it possible to test it or oberserve then make a jugement before redissamble it

Cheers

Hi there,

I have just had a look at the diagrams and there is a balance shaft as well, this is rather critical and if this has not been set correctly you will have vibration problems, this is behind the timing belt and down low on the engine, the lower cover and pulley will have to be removed to re inspect, have a word to your mechanic and ask him if he pinned the balance shaft before replacing the belt.
