Hi,

1, My mechnic is changing timing belt for my Mistibishi Magan. He suggest me to change the water pump at the same time as well even the water pump still looks not bad. He said this could save labour cost for possible water pump failure in the future. Is this true with Mistibishi Magana, 4 Cylinder Engineer.

2, How can I test the timeing belt been replaced succefully

Thans for your time in advance

Hi there,

He is correct in one respect, it will safe money, but the pump may last for years to come, so it is your call, do it now or wait. I don't normally do the pumps with a timing belt, unless it is stiff in the bearing, leaking, or noisy. As for checking if the belt has been fitted correctly, the engine performance will be well down, the only other way is to dismantle all the covers and check, but i would not bother, trust your mechanic to do the job correctly.

Thanks

but very unfortuately I got a bad mechnic to have fixed the timing belt and now i becoming really frustrated.

Now I am strugling to locate the problem myself as I donot want to continue feeding "money" to the greedy mechnic.

The enignee now have excessive vibration and very nosie.

I suspect the timing blet is too lossen. I can easily open the uper cover and reach the timing belt. So how can I test if the timing belt tens  ion or not

Hi there,

There should be little or limited deflection at the long unsuported section of belt. if you can supply an engine size i can post a picture for you.
