Electrical problem

bought a 1995 mitsubishi cot 1.3 gli. drove it home 60 miles over mountain roads and it drove perfectly. fitted a stereo in the car same day and in the process blew the fuse serving the clock and interior light. replaced it and all worked fine. then on starting the car up, the fuel pump makes a very noticable hum and the car will only go a few hundred yards and then the engine dies. it will restart imediately and idle but will not accept throttle without dying. i am getting an erroneous reading from the throttle position sensor. any ideas. also, is it possible that the fuel pump relay has been damaged. many thanks for any help at all.david.
