I have a mitsubishi 1991 gto that on a cold start up the engine revs really high , it takes at least five minutes for it to settle in to a normal pattern.

Hi kerryn walker,

If the cold start is below 2000 rpm, it is normal. If it is more than that, you need to check the ISC.
