I seem to have a bad Fluid leak from the tubes on bottom of steering rack assembly. (They are not the tubes going to P/S pump.)
I would like to know if there is a way to just change to tubes on the rack instead of a remove and replace of whole unit. Also where to find the correct replacement tubing. or is it possible to bend and flare myself?
Do they need to be bend exactly or can I just replace with as close to the bends as I can.

Hi philtfil,

Thank you for the donation.

Do you mean the two hoses connecting the rack to the pinion valve body?

Those should be dealer parts only. Can be replaced without full removal of rack assy. DIY is possible but the internal diameter of the new pipe used should not differ from original to ensure even fluid and pressure flow when turning steering.

Yes, The two tubes under the rack and one seems to go through a rubber grommet on the rack assembly.

So you think I could get new lines at the dealer and still be able to sneak them through the grommet without removing the whole assembly from car.

If that is the case It would save me lots of time and money.

But, I'm thinking the grommet will be a huge problem.

Hi philtfil,

No worries about the grommet. You need to remove the mount bolts the for easier access and manuervability.

Ok, I'll give that a try.

I tried to give you some points But I guess I have none to give or I just am not doing it right.
Hope the donation worked, was worth it for the great knowledge.

Thanks...
