1989 Other Mitsubishi Models No Sparks from coil.

I have replaced the automatic transaxle on my 1989 Mitsubishi Sigma. Prior to this the engine ran fine. I've checked all the electrical plugs for proper connection. The starter turns the engine fine and the battery is new but there is no spark coming from the coil. The coil does show 12v going in. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
