2000 Mitsubishi Montero 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

how do you set the auto-tensioner and tension pully (essentric) adjustment. the auto tensioner looks like it has a plunger that i can't collapse and the pully is on a swing arm and i need to know what degree to set the essentric...3.0L single overhead cam.

Use a vise to collapse tensioner (slowly) and then hold in place with a small drill bit (must be hard). Line up marks and install belt.Temporarily tighten eccentric against belt with tensioner installed. Turn crank 1/4 turn counterclockwise then 1/4 turn clockwise. Be sure marks still ine up.With pins at bottom of ecentric, tighten ececntric to 39 inch lbs against belt (requires special socket)

then tighten lock bolt to 18 ft lbs.remove pin from tensioner and rotate crank 2 full revolutions and be sure marks still ine up
