I have 1998 Montero Sport with vibration above 45 mph. Have balanced tires and checked for out of round tires. Also checked run out on wheels. Replaced a bad carrier bearing assembly on drive shaft but still vibrates. Vibration does not change with braking or if transmission is shifted into neutral.

Hi there,

Do you feel this in the steering or body or both and to what degree?

It can be felt in the wheel and it does shake the whole car. This one really has me stumped...

It feels like an unbalanced tire since it changes with speed. The frequency of the vibration increases as speed increases.

Driveshaft unbalanced maybe?

Hi there,

I would be making sure that the wheels, tyres & balance is correct, wheel bearings next, drive shafts basically are trouble free balance wise as if they are bad they will be from installation, i have yet to come across a faulty balanced shaft that has not been first damaged in some way.
