Engine Performance problem
1999 Mitsubishi Mirage 4 cyl Automatic
I have a '99 Mitsubishi Mirage, that started behaving strangely a couple months back. Whenever I would first start up the car it would uncontrollably rev and stutter forward ever few minutes or so until I got the car up past around 35 mph or so. The weird thing is that after hitting 35 that first time, dropping back down to lower speeds would cause no problems at all. The problem seemed to either be getting gradually worse or to be adversely affected by the growing cold. Then, finally, one day about a week ago it just wouldn't start at all. One of my friends thinks the starter might have gone, but would that explain the other problem?
Any ideas what might be going on?
