I not positive, but the water pump is probaly timing belt driven and has gone bad, only fix is to replace the water pump if that is what is leaking, to find out for sure you may have to remove the covers to pinpoint leak.

Please I am at your mercy.
Finally, after opening the covers how can I tell that the water pump is broken? how does a broken one look like and how does it behave?

On the lower gear I aligned the circle on the gear with one at approximately 12 o'clock or slightly later, on the top it currently is around 3 o'clock and the rooter points to 11 o'clock not 4 o'clock where piston 1 is. The books I look suggest the top gear at around 11 oclock. Can you straighten me out so I can put the timing belt back on thankyou so very much dan bender
