Im not sure whats wrong or what happened. My wife was driving my car home and she said that she came to a stop and the car would not shift back into first gear. After we got it home, I noticed that i can shift with no problems when the car is off but as soon as i start it up, the car is stuck in that gear. Also when i start it up in 1st or reverse and i hold the clutch all the way in, the car wants to go in that direction like im not holding the clutch in at all. does anyone have a clue to whats wrong?

Hi jeff021982j,

Thank you for the donation.

The clutch has a problem and it could be the hydraulics or the clutch assy itself.

Check the clutch fluid level and if it is low, there is a leak somewhere along the hydraulic system and air has got into the system resulting in it failing. Topping up the fluids might get it working again for a short while till the level drops again, however you might not be able to hold the clutch in gear for extended periods as the leakage would be similar to you releasing the clutch pedal. Bleeding of system would be required if too much air is in system.

You would need to check where the leak is coming from and rectify it.
