2003 Mitsubishi Lancer Are CV Joints the same thing as the

Hi, I have taken my car to Mitsubishi numerous times now and the vibration and pulsation continues no matter what they do. On top of that, the car just recently started making a clicking sound when I turn the wheel to the right. They said it was my axle but I have a cousin that lives in another state who says its the cv joint. When I tell mitsu this they say the cv joints are the same thing as the axle. They have now replace the axle twice with 2 new axles and it is still clicking......is it really the cv joints only that need to be replaced??? I'm so frustrated with this car I need help

Hi there,

Just so you get the full picture, there are 2 drive shafts each have 2 CV's, the outer CV has the spline end that goes through the front hub, this CV normally fails first as there is a lot more deflection of the CV due to the steering action, the inner only accounts for the axle suspension deflection and lasts a lot longer as a rule, CV's will click under load, that is when on full lock if worn or dry due to lack of grease. you can also get some noise if the end nut is not tightened fully you can get some spline noise when breaking or accelerating. On most shafts the CV are serviceable as they can be removed from the shaft.
