2004 Mitsubishi Galant Oxygen Sensor

My check engine light has been on for about 6 months. When I finally took the car to the dealership, they said I had a bad oxygen sensor. (bank 1, sensor 2). They told me it would be approximate $300 to repair, so I authorized the repairs after checking with a few other places. Now the dealership is saying that the sensor froze onto the main part and needs to be re threaded. Does this sound correct? Can the sensor freeze? I live in central Florida....

it si rair but it can happen if the exhaust is running too hot for a long period of time and if it is original it could very well be siezed in the threads. All new replacement O2's come with a coat of anti-seize on them for this reason as well should have the original factory O2 but they may get occasionally not coated at the factory when installed.
