took car into dealership and told the fuel pump soleoid was faulty. The gas guage was not working at the time. When the solenoid was replaced the dealership still had not repaired the gas gauge. They wanted to replace the whole cluster of guages on the dash at a 1000 dollars labour and parts. Question is this procdure to repair a faulty gas gauge in this model of car?

yes, your vehicle does not use a fuel sending unit in fuel tank like most vehicles do. your vehicle's fuel gauge is ran by the fuel unit which is part of the fuel gauge itself, so if it is faulty then the gauges will need replaced.
