When I brake at speeds above 45 mph my car experiences some fairly intense vibration - is it my brake pads or rotors? I read that turning rotors can actually make them more weak due to the removal of a layer of metal - is it beneficial to get new rotors? How much do they go for?

Hi ohaleyh9,

Yes, you have a problem with the rotors.

There is a service limit for rotor thickness and any refacing must be within this specs, if not, you have to replace them.

If it is within limit, refacing would be a better option than replacement. New rotors soometimes runs out after replacement and you would need to reface them too, especially after market parts.

Price wise, I am not able to provide the cost.
