2002 Mitsubishi Galant Heater Blowing Cold Air

Heater problem
2002 Mitsubishi Galant 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 124K miles

My Mitsubishi Galant 2002 blows only cold air (The A/C seems to work fine). I checked with the dealer and he stated that the Hot/Cold pump needs to be replaced. If that is the issue (pump not working) even A/C should not work or car engine should get overheated. Am I correct? Based on the articles on this website it makes me feel that the heater valve is not working. Any suggestions?

Should I replace the hot/cold pump first and then check or should I replace the heater valve first?

You might want to start at checking the thermostat if its stuck open. heater core not clogged-up, heater control valve and the air blend door if its stuck in the cold position

What pump are they talking about?

If you haven't change the thermostat-do so and then comeback or you can test it by using hot water

The heater control valve is where the heater hoses are attached too-

Air blend door you have to open it up the dash and check its operation

The dealer referred as hot/Cold pump. He was referring to water pump.

I will check suggested steps and get back to you.

I have another problem and wanted to check if these two are inter-related? The second problem is - Even if I blow air through the vents on the windshield, the fog from the middle bottom portion of the windshield doesn't go.

There's a door/flap that's not opening-you need to open it up also check the air blend door could be stuck on the cold position

If the water pump is defective the engine will overheat-coolant is not circulating and heat is not being removing from the engine
