The Air Conditioning works every now and then. We have traced and checked all the wires and found no shorts or grounded wires. It works great when its on but usually does not work. I noticed that the rear defroster button or the air circulator button will not work when the AC is out as the Light on the AC switch will not work either. The closest Mitsubishi dealer is over an hour away and do not want to take it there to have it fixed, Any help would be apprecicated.

When it's not working, does the compressor run?

No, when it will not work, its like it does not know it is supposed to be on, but when it does run, it runs smooth and perfectly.

AS a/c SYSTEMS ARE PARTLY CONTROLLED BY THE pcm YOU MIGHT WANT TO CHECK THE CONNECTOR TO THAT, AND MAYBE HAVE the system scanned for codes, theremay be one set that has to do with the A/C. Yes even if the light isn't on...

I will check that. I have scanned the car several times, but it says I need the mitsubishi module as none of the computers I have tried will talk to the climate control computer, only basic codes and info. I was hoping there was some sort of master relay or sensor that would effect the AC, Rear Defroster, and the Circulator all in the same manner. If one works they all work, if one fails, none of them work.

Tha is the problem....if it's a communication error, you'll only find it with a Chrysler or mits scanner or capable tool...would be worth the expense to stop sweating!
